"On Eagles' Wings" Wellness center ready to open

BRIDGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - For Ann Ruel, the "On Eagles' Wings Wellness Center" is more than just a building: it's a manifestation of her strength as a breast cancer survivor.

It's been a long and emotional journey, but the center is now ready to open Saturday, April 13.

The building has paralleled Ann's recovery process. Before she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Ann owned the building and used it as a real estate office. When cancer struck, she lost her job, but didn't lose the building.

Ann says recovering from cancer is like being reborn. Her new life has a focus now: to help others recovering emotionally from cancer. Part of her emotional recovery process has been creating this wellness center. Just as people have helped her along the way, they've also helped the center grow into a tranquil sanctuary where cancer patients and survivors can escape their suffering. In this safe place, they can relax with massages and reflexology treatments, and more importantly, they can talk with someone who truly understands their physical and emotional pain.

On Saturday, Ann's church pastors will bless the building at 11AM. Then, at 12PM, all are welcome to write a message of hope on a helium balloon and release it into the air.

The center is based on donations. It welcomes all women to schedule a massage on Thursdays. The cost is 75 dollars, with a portion of that money going back into the center. Reflexology is free right now as Ann continues her training. That is available just to cancer patients and survivors on Wednesdays.

There will be fundraisers in the coming months to help raise money and awareness for the wellness center, as Ann continues to expand on her dreams of helping others the best she can.
