Old Town Police arrest man for failing to register as sex offender

OLD TOWN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Old Town police have arrested Jerry Conary, 22, now of Old Town, for failing to register locally.

According to Old Town police, they began an inquiry after Conary reported to them but did not notify the registry.

Conary had not made residential updates to the registry since before May 2016.

Conary has formerly been convicted of unlawful sexual contact.

Conary is currently being held at Penobscot County Jail. 

Authorities plan to notify the surrounding community previous to his release.
