Lee was born on Dec. 11, 1944. She was a huge star in the 1960s, but her music isn't played as much anymore with the exception of her ubiquitous holiday standard, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."
Her song "Dynamite" has special meaning for her as the source of her nickname. After it came out, people began calling her "Little Miss Dynamite," in recognition of the disconnect between her big voice and small, 4'9"stature.
