Lloyd became the first African-American to play in an NBA game on Oct. 31, 1950.
He was one of three African-American players to make their NBA debut at the start of the 1950 season. Lloyd had the honor of being the first because the Capitols had the earliest game on the schedule.
The other two trailblazers were Chuck Cooper with the Celtics and Nat Clifton with the Knicks.
