The Pooh stories were written by A.A. Milne. He based them on the fantasy world dreamed up by his own son, Christopher Robin, who was born on Aug. 21, 1920.
As an adult, Christopher Robin was embarrassed by his role in the Pooh stories. He cared so little about his old stuffed animals that he gave them away.
Thankfully, the book editor who got ahold of them realized their value and donated to the New York City Public Library, where they remain on display to this day.
