Indiana Jones is played by Harrison Ford, who was born on July 13, 1942.

"Indiana" was actually the character's nickname.  His real name is Henry Jones, Jr.  It was revealed in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" that he borrowed his nickname from his family dog.

That revelation was an inside joke by the movie-makers.  The screenplay for the series was written by Star Wars mastermind George Lucas.  He also had a dog named Indiana that served as the real-life inspiration for the character's name.
