PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- At a time when superhero teamups are all the rage at the box office, a Maine comic book writer is assembling his own squad of heroes.
The Avengers hits theaters on May 4. It brings together Iron Man, the Hulk and several other superheroes to fight a common enemy. While such a teamup is new to the movies, it is a longstanding tradition in comic books. And adding to that tradition is Portland-based comic writer Jay Piscopo.
Commander X is one of the characters Piscopo has created under the banner of Nemo Publishing. He is working with the Moonstone company which holds the publishing rights to the classic character Captain Midnight to bring the two heroes together for a shared adventure.
Piscopo recently sat down with NEWS CENTER's Sharon Rose to discuss his creative process.
