Ford was born on Feb. 1, 1894 in Cape Elizabeth. He grew up in Portland until his talent behind the camera led him to Hollywood.
Ford won more Oscars as Best Director than anyone else in history. He was honored for each of the four movies listed above, however "How Green Was My Valley" was the only one of his movies to also win Best Picture.
