PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands is telling people to take a hike; literally!
There will be four parks open for special activities for hikers on New Year's Day.
You can join in on the fun at Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle, Cobscook Bay State Park in Edmunds Township, Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park in Freeport, and Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg.
Park officials say admission is free to all parks next Sunday.
The January 1st hikes mark the first time all U.S. State Park systems have joined together to sponsor the event.
