Woman charged after crashing her and fleeing the scene, officials say

ARUNDEL, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- An Arundel woman was arrested Saturday night after fleeing the scene of a car crash, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash near 172 Campground Road around 11 p.m. Saturday. The caller reported a Jeep Grand Cherokee had gone off the road and crashed into some trees.

The driver, 26-year-old Samantha Cook, allegedly got out of the car and fled the scene toward Limerick Road.

Deputies say they located Cook shortly after midnight and placed her under arrest after an interview. She is charged with leaving the scene of a crash and operating a car on a suspended registration plate.

Cook had been bailed on a previous domestic violence charge and a condition of her release was not to consume alcohol. Deputies say she was also charged with violating those conditions.

Cook is being held without bail at the York County Jail.
