Charlotte, NC (WLTX) - Two journalists for WLTX were injured Wednesday night during the protests that took place in uptown Charlotte.
Chef Photographer Eric Alkire and reporter/weekend anchor Mary Sturgill were among the group of journalists that were in the middle of some of the protests that were taking place in the wake of the fatal shooting of Keith Scott by Charlotte police.
As Alkire and Sturgill were out there covering the event, tear gas was sprayed at protesters and them. Around 10:30 p.m, lthe two were attacked by people on the street. Sturgill said Alkire was hit in the back of the head, and she was tackled to the ground. Live video showed the two of them walking away from the scene with the assistance of officers.
