Winthrop man charged with burning down his mobile home, again

WINTHROP, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – A man is being charged with arson for the second time after his mobile home burned to the ground Thursday morning.

A mobile home was destroyed by fire and police are charging the homeowner with arson.Police say 64 year-old Charles Reed was arrested after a fire was reported around 2 a.m. Thursday at his mobile home on 386 route 133 in Winthrop.

Winthrop Firefighters were able to get the fire out in less than an hour. Police say Reed was at home but was not injured. 

Reed is being charged arson and violations of conditions of release. Reed was on bail for a previous arson charge. Police say Reed burned down another mobile home he owned in 2014 in Monmouth. They say in both cases the mobile homes were destroyed.

Reed was taken to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. Officials say they are continuing to investigate.
