UMA to offer drone piloting courses

UMA to offer drone piloting course

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- In just two weeks the University of Maine at Augusta will begin offering the states first higher education drone piloting program.

In late August the FAA  came out with new rules regarding drone use and pilot certification.

Now UMA is using their new course to help train people by giving them hands on experience.

The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or drones are being used for a variety of jobs throughout the country.

"It's only gonna grow, we know that the military is requiring done operators, UAV operators. We see it more in insurance. We see it more in search and rescue. We see it in just about any inspection power lines, wind towers anything" said Greg Jolda, Aviation Program Coordinator.
For more information on the program, check out the UMA website. For more information on the FAA rules check out the FAA website.
