Two Hampden Town Councilors remain seated during the Pledge of Allegiance

HAMPDEN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A YouTube video showing two Hampden Town Councilors remaining seated during the Pledge of Allegiance during the March 17th meeting is creating a stir on social media. We are reaching out to the town councilors today to understand under what context they made this decision. The Pledge of Allegiance was recently added to the beginning of the council Meetings following a 5-2 vote. The councilors who voted against including the Pledge of Allegiance are William Shakespeare and Thomas Brann. They are the councilors who did not stand.
