Thieves steal $30k worth of snowblowers

Police still looking for snow blower thieves

BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) - In a move that is sure to land them on Santa's naughty list for this year, a group of winter-minded thieves stole roughly $30,000 worth of snow blowers last weekend in Maine.

Police say the crooks drove a U-Haul truck through the front gate of a power equipment dealership in Brunswick around 10:53 p.m. Sunday.

The suspects took approximately an hour to load the Honda HSS snow-blowers onto the truck before fleeing in the direction of Interstate 295. The equipment retails for anywhere between $2,800 and $3,000 apiece.

Police say the U-Haul the thieves were driving was painted with a "zebra head Idaho design." It had no other distinguishing features.

Sgt. Martin Rinaldi says it's clear that the thieves have had prior experience with commercial thefts.
