Suspected drug supplier arrested in overdose death

ROCHESTER, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) -- An arraignment is set for Monday for a woman accused of supplying drugs to the victim of an overdose death in Rochester, N.H.

Twenty-two-year-old Nina Batista of Rochester was already in Strafford County Jail when detectives served her with an arrest warrant on Friday. She faces a felony charge of dispensing a controlled drug with death resulting.

Police said Batista provided the drugs that were used by a 23-year-old man who was found dead by emergency crews at a site on Osborne Street in Rochester on Sept. 15. A toxicology report on the victim by the N.H. Medical Examiner's Office determined his death was caused by acute fentanyl intoxication.

Batista did not post bail, and will remain in jail pending her court appearance on Oct. 24.
