Suspect in Kittery high-speed chase arrested

KITTERY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police involved in an early morning high speed chase Monday arrested the suspect at a traffic stop later in the afternoon.

Kittery Police say 38-year-old Antonio Hector stole a vehicle in Dover, New Hampshire and refused to stop for police. They discontinued the chase for safety reasons as it reached speeds of 75 MPH.

The stolen car was later found crashed into a telephone pole on Rogers Road in Kittery a short time later. Police called in a K-9, but Hector was able to get away, they said.

Hector already had an active warrant for his arrest out of Dover, at the time of his arrest on aggravated assault and theft charges.

Police say he will be charged with eluding an officer, driving to endanger, criminal speeding, theft, and operating without a license, as well as being a fugitive from justice.

Hector will be transported to York County Jail.
