Students raise big money to honor classmate

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A group of students at Memorial Middle School in South Portland has a lot to be proud of.

They raised almost five thousand dollars for Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. The fundraiser was inspired by 13 year-old Tristan Flaherty, who died almost month ago from a rare illness he had suffered from for most of his life. But his family and friends say he never let being sick get in his way.

The students delivered the big check to Barbara Bush Children's hospital themselves. They also got a tour of the hospital With Tristan's family.
