SCARBOROUGH (NEWS CENTER) -- Scarborough voters will have another opportunity to decide whether or not to allow slot machines at Scarborough Downs this election day.
At a special meeting on Wednesday night, the Scarborough Town Council decided to place a question on the November ballot to amend the town's zoning ordinance and allow slot machines as part of a larger development in and around Scarborough Downs.
Voters have previously rejected similar proposals.
If the issue does pass on electionday, it must still be approved by the legislature and the governor.
There is also a referendum question on the statewide ballot to allow a casino to be built in Oxford County.
