LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER) -- Food from more farms across Maine is making its way to the dining room at Bates College.

The interest earned from a $2.5 million donation is earmarked for Dining Services. The Director says she's focused on using that money to buy more locally grown and organic foods.

The goal is to buy more than 30% of Campus food from Maine farmers. Bates is already at 28% with the help of this donation.

Blackie's Farm Stand on Minot Avenue in Auburn gets a lot of business from Bates, and it will likely increase. Blackie's Farm is where growers from around Maine sell their produce.
