PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- A new landscaping project has taken over a section of Portland's Back Cove trail... a project that's taken over 10 years to design.
Crews have been working on the first leg of the project, which uses specific plants and trees to coincide with the natural environment. For example, trees that like a lot of water are planted in lower areas that usually gather a lot of rain.
The yardscape is a demonstration site designed by the Maine Yardscaping Partnership to show onlookers how to construct a garden with little fertilizer and water.
The effort takes help from volunteers and donations. If you'd like to donate or you'd like more information on the project, click on the related links section to the right of this story.
