(NEWS CENTER) -- Fire officials say leave the fireworks displays to the professionals.
Lt. Robb Couture, with the South Portland Fire Department, says even sparklers can cause extreme burns. He says they should be used by adults, not children, and that you should always have a hose or water available to extinguish them.
Lt. Couture says to play it safe and attend one of the state-approved fireworks displays.
