PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Maine non-profit is raising money to open centers that will help people with autism.
The Maine Autism Alliance held a walk in Portland Sunday. It's one of four walks being held around the state.
The money raised will go to the new Autism Community Center in Scarborough. There, people with autism and their families can attend support groups and social activities.
The organization hopes to open similar facilities throughout the state.
Walks have also been held in Auburn and Brewer. There will be one more walk next week in Augusta.
