PARSONSFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Parsonsfield man has been arrested after stealing a dirt bike and attempting to steal a second one from a storage unit.
The York County Sheriff's Office said it responded to a home in Parsonsfiled around 2:30 a.m. Saturday for the report of a burglary. Police said the homeowners were awakened by a person breaking into their storage shed that housed two dirt bikes.
The homeowner went outside to investigate and found a man pushing one of the dirt bikes off of the property. Authorities said the homeowner confronted the man and he dropped the dirt bike and fled into the woods. After the dirt bike was returned to the shed, the homeowner discovered the second dirt bike was missing and called police.
Police found 26-year-old Christopher Gray from Parsonsfield walking in the area about twenty minutes later. Gray admitted to police he had committed the burglary and showed authorities where he had hidden the dirt bike.
Police said the value of the two recovered dirt bikes is estimated at $1,000.
Gray was arrested for burglary and is being held at the York County Jail on $500 cash bail. Additional charges of theft are anticipated.
