PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Do you know what you should do if a shooter shows up at your workplace?
It's an unlikely scenario, but it's something you should be prepared for, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
In a six minute video, the Department of Homeland Security is advising people to remember three words: Run, Hide, and Fight.
It explains that people should attempt to leave the area of the shooting first, and if that is not possible, hide from the shooter. As a last resort, people can attempt to confront the shooter and fight.
"We can be proactive about these situations," said Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck.
He presented the video and an additional powerpoint to Apothecary By Design, a Portland Pharmacy.
He is hopeful that people can pass along the Homeland Security video, to make other workplaces prepared.
