BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Penobscot Theater Company is getting ready for another season, but this year is a milestone: the theater's 40th anniversary. Crews were busy Monday building the stage to get ready for the first show of the season, a comedy called "Fox on the Fairway." The non-profit theater is planning 8 shows for the season, the dramatic academy for kids, and some surprises too.
"The Bangor area has made sure this theater has been vibrant for 40 years which is really quite a feat for any community and yes this being our 40th anniversary there will be all kinds of surprises in store," explained Bari Newport, the theaters artistic director.
Newport went on to say that that theater will be announcing one of those surprises this thursday night at "Scenes and Songs" which is a performance that is a compilation of scenes from all the upcoming shows.
