MONROE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine Department of Public Safety says a body was recovered from a burned out house in the town of Monroe.
The fire on Jackson Road was discovered by a passerby around 11:30pm Thursday.
Investigators say they belive the body is likely that of 56-year-old Randy Oliver, who lived in the one and a half story brick house. The body was discovered about 6:00am Friday in the rubble of the house that had fallen into the basement.
The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for positive identification.
Investigators say because the damage was so extensive, it is unlikely a cause of the fire can be determined. The four exterior brick walls are all that remain of the house.
