BRUNSWICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- After losing their church to a devastating fire the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick broke ground on a new church building Sunday.
The time spent raising money, designing, and using temporary worship space has been challenging for church leaders. They have been holding services in Bath, and had to scrap their original design because it was too expensive. But the process has taught them a great deal about who they are as individuals and as a congregation.
"What's important is how we come together, how we work to make the world a better place, and none of that is really dependent on where we are" said religious education director Nicole Shanks.
The builders hope to have construction on the church complete within a year.
