Oceanfront development will go to highest bidder

SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Home buyers looking for ocean frontage could have a rare opportunity to purchase property in Southwest Harbor after an auction there later this month.

The Village At Oceans End in Southwest Harbor is one of the largest permitted developments on Mount Desert Island and will be put up for auction March 26th. The 47 acre condominium and development project is worth over $2 million according to the towns website. The sale of that land will include 37 luxury home sites and ocean front with a pier. According to Stefan Keenan, with Keenan Auction Company, interest in the development has come from people all over the country who have a wide arrange of options in what they choose to do with the property.

"There have been interest levels anywhere from recreational and residential luxury home developments to even resort and lodgding complex and hotel development," said Keenan.

The next scheduled on-site preview of the property will be Tuesday March 12th from 10am to noon and will be open to the public.
