Only after first being turned down by Selleck did producers of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" give the role of Indiana Jones to Harrison Ford.

The scheduling conflict that cost Selleck the role turned out to be a non factor.  Because of a writers strike that year, Selleck would have had time to shoot the movie without missing any time on "Magnum P.I."
