AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A 30-year-old man has been indicted on a murder charge in the shooting death of another man outside a Waterville bar last year.
Matthew Partridge from Winslow was indicted Friday by a Kennebec County Grand Jury. Partridge is charged with murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Justin Smith from China. The shooting happened December 4th outside of the You Know Who's Pub in Waterville.
Partridge is accused of shooting Smith in the face after a fight broke out between two groups of men.
Patridge's attorney has said he was acting in self-defense.
On the night of the shooting, Partridge fled the scene in a pickup truck. A short time later, police spotted a truck matching the description that was given to them, and Partridge was arrested without incident on Route 8 in Smithfield.
Partridge is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $700,000 cash bail. He is due in court next month.
