Warren, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The warden of the Maine State Prison, Patricia Barnhart, has been fired.
An official with the union that represents prison workers says corrections commissioner Joseph Ponte went to Barnhart's office this morning and fired her on the spot. A spokeswoman for the corrections department won't comment on the matter.
Barnhart told the Bangor Daily News she wasn't "at liberty to discuss it."
Barnhart had served as warden since 2009.
