Owings Mills, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens activated wide
receiver/kick returner David Reed from the physically unable to perform list,
the team announced on Monday.
Reed, who was the Ravens starting kick returner last year, underwent offseason
surgery to repair a torn ACL and has yet to play this season.
A former fifth-round pick selection, Reed averaged a league-best 29.3 yards
per return during his rookie campaign in 2010. He remained the starting kick
returner in 2011 up until a two-fumble performance against the Seattle
Seahawks in Week 10. He tore his ACL six weeks later in a contest against the
Browns.
Reed will replace defensive back Anthony Levine on the 53-man roster, who was
placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
