BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- October is breast cancer awareness month, and to celebrate the month of pink one Bangor group is holding an event to raise money and awareness about the cancer that effects the lives of so many.
Caring Connections is a cooperative women's health program with the Bangor YMCA and Eastern Maine Medical Center. Women enrolled receive breast and cervical health education services, along with advocacy and transportation assistance. Caring Connections also provides community education and support regarding breast and cervical health.
On October 14th the group will be holding it's first annual SplashFest event at the Bangor YMCA from 7:00am-1:30pm. The fundraiser is for serious and novice swimmers a like. Those who participate can swim anywhere from 50 yards up to a mile.
