BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- If you are around Bangor Saturday afternoon there is a chance that you could see some really cool cars because this year's Fireball Run will finish in Bangor.
There are 40 teams participating in this year's run including a team from Maine. The groups are expected to arrive in Bangor around 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Once the teams get into town they will have to complete a series of challenges to finish the race. Then there will be a parade in downtown Bangor that begins at 5. Executive Director of the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau Kerrie Tripp said the teams are not just racing for fun, but they are doing this for a good cause.
"All of these teams are representing a missing child somewhere across the United States and they're all handing out materials, posters, baseball cards, all of that to help bring awareness to the number of children that are truly missing. In the past 5 years that Fireball Run has been functioning as an event they've aided in the recovery of 38 missing children," Tripp said.
The missing child they're focusing on in Maine is missing toddler Ayla Reynolds. Tripp said the parade will go on rain or shine tomorrow and once the parade is over people will have a chance to meet the teams and get a better look at some of the cars.
