PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Hall school remains closed after a fire damaged the building.

After more than a week out of school, students will be returning Tuesday to a temporary new school at the former Cathedral School on Congress Street. Monday night, parents and students got a chance to check out the building and meet with school officials. They are waiting for the results of tests to make sure the air quality at the Hall School is safe. Until then, students will be using the Cathedral School. It's quite a bit smaller than Hall with just fourteen classrooms rather than twenty-eight, so teachers will share the space. But parents we spoke with seemed comfortable with this temporary solution.

"I just think we're really lucky that there's a space like this available in Portland that still has desks, it still has books, it still has paper, there's a lot of resources here so we're extremely fortunate to have this as a back up for our building" Laura Newman said.

There are some big changes when itcomes to buses for Hall School students. Here is the pick-up and drop-off plan at the Cathedral School:

Bus drop off in the morning will be on Cumberland Avenue to the west of Locust Street.

Bus pick up in the afternoon will take place along Locust Street.

Parent pick-up and drop-off for the before and after school Recreation Program will be restricted to the Cathedral School parking lot using the entrance on Congress Street.

School officials are strongly encouraging parents to take advantage of the bus system because there is very limited space in the Cathedral School parking lot.
