BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The United Way of Eastern Maine held the kickoff celebration to its annual fundraising campaign at Bass Park today in Bangor. the agencies that partner with the United Way or benefit from its fundraising, marched around the Bangor Raceway and into the grandstands for the festivities . The United Way's annual campaign is a way to rally its partners to go out into the community, or back to their workplaces and help raise money over the next year for the 70 non-profit programs throughout Eastern Maine that help people. Those programs include everything from daycares and homeless shelters, to prescription drug programs for the eldery and food pantrys. This is the 75th year of the campaign.
