Biddeford nonprofit uses grant to support youth services

BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A nonprofit group in Biddeford announced a federal grant is coming its way.

The U.S. Department of Labor is giving $685,000 to the Biddeford Housing Authority to help with several of its programs.

Officials say the money will go toward rebuilding two of their housing units, and fund the a GED test prep program.

 

 

 

The GED program will have an enrollment of 40 kids between the ages of 16 and 24.  Ninety percent of the graduates will be placed in post-program opportunities.

The grant also benefits 30 other agencies, schools and job recruiters.
