BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A Whitefield man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for his role in an oxycodone distribution ring.

Federal prosecutors say 40-year-old Peter Poland was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to three years and four months in prison, followed by three years of probation.

Authorities say the 40-year-old Poland was involved in a scheme that got oxycodone and other drugs outside Maine and distributed them in Kennebec and Cumberland counties.

The Kennebec Journal reports that Poland was charged as a result of a wiretap investigation that took place between April and August 2011.

Charges are pending against four other people.

Poland also faces charges in state court for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a gun last September.
