Mitt Romney makes appearance at Portland Yacht Services
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney made his first campaign visit to Maine Friday night.
Romney is in the pine tree state because Saturday is the last day of the Republican town caucuses before the Maine GOP Presidential Preference Survey.
He spoke at a town hall type of event at Portland Yacht Services with a speech and questions from the audience.
Romney hopes for a good showing, a win, in the Maine caucuses.
Earlier this week Romney lost three primaries to Rick Santorum -- so there is strong value of a win in Maine.
The other factor in the Maine GOP caucuses is Ron Paul. He has very strong support in Maine, and one party leader tells NEWS CENTER it is possible Paul could win here. Romney wants to take the state -- that's why he made the decision to come here.
Both candidates are expected to visit some caucus sites Saturday -- and the results of the non-binding preference poll will be announced Saturday night.
