WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--According to researchers teens engage in about seven and a half hours of media a day.  That averages to five thousand images.  A group in Waterville says many of those images portray unhealthy stereotypes of women.

Hardy Girls Healthy Women held the third annual Freaky Fun Run and Walk.  The group is working to help people combat the idea that women are sex objects.

Organizers hope to raise 12 thousand dollars from the event.  They say its important to reach out to girls in their teens when many are vulnerable to negative media images.

Experts say to be critical thinkers about the images that are seen or suggested so you can know when an image or idea is unhealthy.
