CORNISH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Ever since news came out that the Stanley Cup was coming to Cornish, Krista's Restaurant, the cup's host has been getting a lot of phone calls.
The Stanley Cup is coming because everyone in the Bruins organization gets one day with it. Bruins executive Jim Bednarek has a house in Cornish and asked if he could have a party with the Cup at Krista's.
Krista Lair, the owner of the restaurant, is planning a big event to celebrate the Cup's arrival, but she says she wants to make sure that people who come know what to expect. There is just one table left inside the restaurant. It's for 8 people and is being auctioned off to benefit Sacopee Valley athletics. The winner will get dinner with a great view of the Stanley Cup and photos with the Cup. If you'd like to make a bid, you can email Lair at email@example.com. She can let you know what the high bid is. You can also find more information about the auction on the Events section of Krista's Restaurant's Facebook page.
Krista's also is hosting a barbeque outside the restaurant for anyone who wants to attend. Be aware, though, that access to the Cup will be minimal. It is expected to only make a couple of passes through the outside tent, and it's not going to stop for photo opportunities. It costs $5 to get into the beer tent.
Parking is being provided at the Fairgrounds down the street and is $5. Proceeds go to the senior class of Sacopee Valley High School. A shuttle will take people to the event. There is no parking in downtown Cornish, and the York County Sheriff's Department will be directing traffic. There will be some detouring around town to control traffic.
The party runs from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm on Wednesday, September 28. You can see other details on the restaurant's Facebook page.
