PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A group of artists are using their talent to transform a therapy room for children.

The Community Counseling Center works with children coping with trauma. The center recently built an addition with a new children's room, and counselors wanted to find a way to make the place feel more comfortable for their young clients. So a group of artists lead by sisters Dani and Nicole Fazio are painting a mural on the walls. The design is based on one little girl's drawing of a place where she feels safe.

The center is unveling the mural at an open house on Thursday June 16th from 5 to 7 pm. The center is located at 165 Lancaster Street in Portland.

The artists have also been blogging about their progress on the mural. You can read more by clicking here.
