SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The victims of the worst air disaster in Maine history now have a memorial dedicated in their honor.
The Long Creek Air Tragedy Memorial was dedicated in South Portland Sunday. 66 years ago, a World War II bomber crashed into a trailer park, killing 18 people, along with the pilot.
The memorial sits near the scene of that disaster, off Westbrook Street, near the entrance to Redbank Village.
