KENNEBUNK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State and Kennebunk Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday morning over an embankment at the end of a cul-de-sac.

A contractor discovered the body of 53-year-old Susan Danis on Erica's Way in Kennebunk. That's not far from the Maine Turnpike.

Police say when they arrived at the scene they found the woman's sport utility vehicle not far from her body.

They say there were some unusual aspects to the scene where the body was located. But they say after talking with the woman's family they do not believe she died as a result of a crime being committed.

Investigators say Danis is from East Rochester, New York and also spends time with relatives in Kennebunk who live in the neighborhood where her body was found.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
