BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Not every child knows precisely what they want to do when they grow up, so adults and teachers give them examples. Friday, some students in Brewer got a chance to check out some of those choices.
Sixth graders from the Brewer Middle School took part in a job shadowing program and visited Dead River Company, Sam's, Best Buy, the airport, and Brewer Public Safety to see what people at all of those places do.
The students who went to Dead River were quite impressed. "The oil workers, the truck drivers, they don't have an easy job," said Emily Mailman.
"You have to work really hard to get to where you want to be, to get to how you want to do it," added Lexi Wood.
The students say while they're not sure whether this is a career they'd consider, it was good to see it as an option.
"I think it's a neat thing to do," said Esue Pinkham. "Learn a lot of things about a different company. And I think it could help for when we grow up and want to find a job."
