AUGUSTA (AP) -- Gov. John Baldacci says Mainers are keeping their spirits this Thanksgiving weekend despite the grip of the worst recession in a generation. In his weekly radio address Saturday, the governor says Mainers will be called upon to make tough choices and to sacrifice as work gets under way to balance the state budget, which is running a potential $400 million shortfall. But he also says he knows the people of Maine will not allow fear to take root. On this holiday weekend, Baldacci says he is thankful for the kindness and resilience of Mainers, the state's natural resources and its industrious people. He is also giving thanks for family and friends and the time he gets to spend with them.
