LEWISTON (NEWS CENTER) -- The city of Lewiston is taking input from architecture students as it looks for new ideas about how to revitalize the downtown and the riverfront. 3 groups of senior thesis students from UMaine Augusta presented their master plans for the area at city hall Friday. They were looking for ways to improve traffic flow, make downtown more pedestrian friendly and make the riverfront more accessible. The city is hoping the designs will spark discussion, and that perhaps and idea or two could be used by a professional design team working to create a master plan in the future.. City leaders plan to put the student proposals up somewhere in city hall in the near future, so members of the public can weigh in on what they like. UMA is also hoping to work with other cities and towns on plans like this in future years. Those who are interested can contact professor Eric Stark at eric.stark@maine.edu.
