Distracted Driver May Have Triggered York Crash

YORK (NEWS CENTER) -- A four-vehicle crash closed Route One in York both north and southbound for three hours Thursday afternoon.

Police say the chain reaction crash happened about 3:30. I

t began when a Volvo traveling north crossed the center line and hit an SUV going the other way. That collision pushed the SUV into a van also going southbound. The SUV ended up rolling over as the Volvo then rammed a fourth vehicle, a pick-up truck also headed south. That pick up also rolled.

No one was seriously hurt. In all, 8 people were involved. All are expected to be okay.

The driver of the Volvo, James Scott II, of Cape Neddick, faces charges for losing control of his vehicle while apparently becoming distracted.
