HANCOCK (NEWS CENTER)--- The revival of a rail line near Ellsworth has nearby firefighters learning what to do in the event of an emergency.

The Hancock, Franklin and Ellsworth Fire Department are all aboard in that training. Saturday morning they were out at Washington Junction in Hancock learning about the make-up of trains and the electrical dangers they can pose.

Downeast Scenic Railroads plans to start offering tours to Ellsworth Falls on the rail line in Hancock beginning next year. It will be the first time that scheduled trains will be running on that line since 1985.

Experts from Downeast Scenic and the Federal Railroad Administration want to remind everyone of a few safety tips when it comes to trains. They say you should never try to beat a train to a crossing, never throw anything at a moving train and always assume that a train could come from any direction, at any time on any track.

"It's never save to go near the tracks," said Downeast Scenic President Tom Testa, "at a crossing always expect a train and always assume a train could be coming."
